New Warrior!

AmberStar was at the High Tree. Looking down below, she was looking for a specific warrior. Her amber colored eyes locked on the small warrior. "Let every cat who is old enough to catch his or her prey gather around for a clan meeting!" The voice of the orange leader boomed across the camp clearing. "We will have a new warrior. Shortpaw, please step up." The leader waited for the little cat to step up before continuing. "I, AmberStar, leader of HawkClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down at this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him/her to you as a warrior in his/her turn. Shortpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?" AmberStar looked at the cat expectantly until she responded "I do." "Then by the powers of StarClan I give you your warrior name. Shortpaw, from this moment you will be known as Shortstride. StarClan honors your compassion and dilligence, and we welcome you as a full warrior of HawkClan." After the announcement, she went leaped down the tree to rest her muzzle on the newly appointed warrior's head.

Shortpaw, no, Shortstride shyly bowed her head and purred, "Thank you, Amberstar, I accept my role with honor" as she accustomly licked her leader's shoulder in respect before standing back with her head high and her chest puffed out.

A pale cream tabby walked towards the High Tree where his clan leader had called out a Clan meeting. Someone would be gaining their warrior name and Mosspaw just happened to know who. Shortpaw had been an apprentice for a while now and it was about time that she became a warrior. It's no hidden fact that her mentor wasn't the best of mentors, but she came out alright. Mosspaw only wondered how such a small and well... short – to put it bluntly – cat was able to accomplish becoming a warrior. Shortpaw had the odds stacked against her. Her shorter legs more than likely made running a hassle, climbing trees had to be difficult almost impossible, and he couldn't even comprehend how she managed to get the warrior moves down. Mosspaw was by no means a warriors apprentice, no, he chose the busy and rewardable life style of a medicine cat. The warrior life was like the wind, scattered and frantic, constantly changing. The medicine cat life style was like the earth, sturdy, strong, and vibrant. A constant reminder that you need to be as sturdy as the earth, as constant as the wind, and as enduring as the rivers that carve their way through the earth.

A strange analogy, but for Mosspaw it made perfect sense. Just like fishing and swimming is to VultureClan. The young apprentice stopped by the foot of the tree to hear out his clan leader. Amberstar yowled out the traditions and gave Shortpaw her new warrior name, Shortstride. Couldnt fit the young warrior any better, Amberstar. The young tom thought to himself as he watched the young warrior and his leader do the sacred bonding. Watching Shortstride reach up to lick Amberstars shoulder was almost comical. Such a short cat trying to pay her respects, but only looking hilarious. A smirk quirked his maw up at the corner at his thought. Comical indeed, Mosspaw thought. His grin was quickly whipped off his face when he decided to start the chant of Shortpaws new name, "Shortstride, Shortstride, Shortstride!" The older apprentice yowled out. After the chant Mosspaw waited to be dismissed by his Clan leader.
