The Moor (hunting)

LurkingFlame crossed the shallow stream into The Moor, ShadowWhisper following behind. He broke into a fast run his paws barely touching the golden grass beneath him. "Cant catch me!" He laughed zooming forward scenting for prey. He stopped suddenly picking up the scent of rabbit. His tail flicked to where it was located a moment later. "Ill chase it to you and you kill it" he hissed quietly. He then began to stalk forward circling around the rabbit skilfully. When he was behind it he lunged forward screeching loud on purpose to scare it towards ShadowWhisper. The rabbit lunged forward on instinct and ran right towards where ShadowWhisper was concealed "Get it!" LurkingFlame yowled in encouragement.

Shadow crouched low to the ground and waited for the rabbit to come closer. She flicked her tail. When the rabbit came closer, she pounes on the rabbit and gives it a killing bite.Her sharp, long claws sink into the rabbit's side.Shadow picks up the rabbit and takes it to Lurkingflame. She thanks the StarClan for the rabbit's life.

Lurkingflame purred in approval "Great job!" He scented the air and caught the scent of hawk and crowfood. He wrinkled his nose at the horrid scent of crowfood but the hawk was near it so he stalked towards it. He saw the giant bird picking at the carrion, he flicked his tail for her to circle to the other side of it while he stayed at the front of it.

"Thank you," Shadow replies. She smiles. ShadowWhisper trots to the other side of the hawk. She narrows her eyes at the bird. Her tail flicks. Shadow waits for Lurkingflame to respond.

"On three.. We'll both attack it" he whispered his sulfur colored eyes narrow on the bird. "One... Two... Three!" He launched up his claws slicing into the air. He snagged the tail of the bird pulling it down and pinning the screeching bird "Bite it! I'll keep it pinned!" He yowled over the frantic cries of the bird. He kept it pinned tightly.

ShadowWhisper quickly jumps on the hawk. She uses her sharp claws to hold on to the bird. She then bites its throat to suffocate it. Shadow viciously claws both of the bird's eyes out. She uses her strength and pulls the hawk towards herself. Shadow rips its throat. She uses her hind legs to kick the hawk off of her.

"Awesome, the clan will eat well tonight" he picked up the heavy bird his long black tail curled. He set it with the rabbit and turned to ShadowWhisper "Want to catch a few more rabbits?" He asked.

"Sure," ShadowWhisper replies. She nods her head. She flicks her tail. Shadow walks next to Lurkingflame. She waits for something to happen.

"Do you scent anything?" He asked and scented the air himself "I smell a couple rabbits, and a lark"

"I smell them too," Shadow replies. She flicks her tail. She perks her ears. Shadow waits for Lurkingflame to make a move. "You lead the way," Shadow says with a smile.

"Alright, lets get the rabbits. Its a bigger meal, then if its still there we'll get the lark" he said quietly and stalked toward the scents. He saw two white cotton tails and the large ears that marked they were rabbits. One was a female and the other a male rabbit by size and scent. "I'll get the one to the left, you get the one to the right" he whispered quietly. He saw the one to the right had turned and was preoccupied with making a hole in the peaty earth. He used the opportunity to lunge into the air so far and high he could've been a bird, his claws dug into the rabbits spine severing it. The rabbit was left paralyzed, LurkingFlame dragged the limp rabbit into a few shaggy bushes so the remaining rabbit didnt notice its companion was missing. He then pointed his tail to the remaining rabbit for ShadowWhisper to see that she can go get that one now.

ShadowWhisper stalks the remaining rabbit. She perks her ears and flicks her tail. In seconds, Shadow dashes towards the rabbit. She pounces on it when she gets close to it. She digs her claws into the rabbit's throat and bites its head. ShadowWhisper thanks StarClan for the rabbit's life. She then picks it up and walks to Lurkingflame. "Nice hunt," Shadow says to Lurkingflame.

"Yeah, a lot of prey. Its unusual because its almost Leaf-fall. I hate Leaf-bare the most" he mewed his eyes a bit distant, the sky had darkened and a few stars came out. He looked at each star as if looking for something-- or someone in his case. His eyes darkened a bit with regret, and then with a pleading look as if saying he was sorry for something he was about to do. He turned and glanced at ShadowWhisper his eyes lighting up with an emotion that the instant the it was shown he glanced down and licked his chest fur. He picked up two rabbits and the tail of the hawk, the hawk dragged from his mouth carelessly. He kept his head down quietly in a manner that you would think he just betrayed someone close to him.

ShadowWhisper studies Lurkingflame. "Is there something wrong?" she asked. She flicks her tail. Shadow blinks her eyes. She glances at the hawk, and then back at Lurkingflame.

"Nothing i guess.." He murdered quietly padding along the golden fields his tail drooped. He didnt wait for ShadowWhisper as he picked up speed despite his heavy burden.

ShadowWhisper does nothing but stare at Lurkingflame. She sighs and picks up her kills. She quietly follows him. What is really up with him? He seems.... very unhappy. Shadow keeps alert for any danger lurking nearby. She says nothing for the rest of time. She daydreams until something happens.

LurkingFlame naturally was really bad at showing and saying how he felt. He slowed down to a slow shamble. His eyes looked distant, like if he showered himself in memories he could hide from the present.

ShadowWhisper flicks her tail. She quickens her trot and ends up next Lurkingflame. She couldn't stand to see him like this. "Okay... are you sure you're fine? I doesn't seem like it..." ShadowWhisper asks with concern. She glues her eyes to him.

"Something i cant explain... Its chokes me when i want to say it. But it kills me that im not saying it. Im afraid of the consequence of my actions. And.... If i did.... It would hurt her being..." he didnt speak of a specific 'she'. He turned his pale yellow gaze her way in guilt. Complete guilt and confusion. And a hint of fear, but fear of what? Only he could say. And it looked like he couldnt say anything right now with the guilt weighed on his massive shoulders.

Shadow sensed Lurkingflame's guilt. She sighs. She drops the kill on the floor. Shadow tilts her head. What female is he referring to? If I ask him ask him this question, I might put him in more pressure... "Hey, just follow your heart and do what's right," Shadow says in a honest way. She sits down and waits for the tom to respond.

"My heart is a betrayer." He said quietly keeping his head forward. He didn't know how he was going to explain it without her getting the true idea of what's going on. He couldn't risk that, he didn't want more heartbreak. But if he told her or not he still felt horrible. Because if he loved his kits' mother how could he love her?

"Oh... but how?"Shadow replies. She blinks her eyes. She looks down at her tail. She doesn't know what to do now. Shadow tries to think about his situation. She stays quiet until Lurkingflame responds.

"I... It's..." He mewed uncertainly, not knowing what he should say. He sighed, it was clear he wasn't good with speaking his mind.

ShadowWhisper blinks her eyes when Lurkingflame had trouble speaking his mind. She sighs. "If you don't want to tell me, you don't have to," she says. Shadow turns her head away. "Your kits are probably waiting for you to come home. We should go back," she says. She looks at him and blinks her eyes. Shadow stands up and flicks her tail. She waits for Lurkingflame to respond before she picks up her kills.

"It's not like i don't want to. I'm afraid of the way you'll respond. It's complicated but I wish it wasn't" he said carefully not wanting to make ShadowWhisper feel unneeded.
